Eczema is a very general term. It is used to describe many different types of skin inflammations. This is a condition that can affect anyone of any age and of any race. A lifestyle change to be healthier inside and out so that the skin is well hydrated and the body is functioning at top form will be a great defense to any eczema flare ups. Another way to keep the skin hydrated is to soak in a luke warm bath and then immediately lather the body in an emollient cream. This will keep the moisture sealed into the skin. For itching skin, antihistamine drugs are commonly prescribed. Benadryl has been shown to be very effective to contol the itching. For more severe outbreaks, oral corticosteroids or topical medications are used. These will require a prescription from a medical doctor and may possily have some side effects to deal with.
Eczema is a condition that has no cure. It is a common condition that, with time and research can be tolerated and lived with. There are many different tips and tricks to try to keep outbreaks under control.
